Sand Filter Parts: Identify the Component Before Ordering
Identify a pool sand filter’s valve, laterals, standpipe, seals and drain from the exact model diagram. Similar-looking parts may not fit.
The main pool sand-filter parts are the tank, multiport valve, internal pipe and laterals, seals, clamp, pressure gauge, and drain assembly. Buy replacements from the diagram for your filter’s exact model and generation—not from tank color or an approximate diameter.

Why the Exact Model Matters
Pentair’s separate sheet for blow-molded Sand Dollar filters lists 155504 for an SD35 piping assembly and 155062 for an SD40 piping assembly, with different dimensions. It also lists alternate piping entries. That is a concrete reason not to order “a Sand Dollar standpipe” without checking the complete diagram and its notes. Pentair blow-molded-filter parts sheet.
Record the tank label, model, serial or manufacturing information, valve model, connection size, and existing part number. Photograph the assembly and compare all of them with the replacement listing. Top-mount and side-mount valves should not be assumed interchangeable.
Use Symptoms to Guide Inspection

These are inspection directions, not a diagnosis from a symptom alone. For example, ordering laterals does not establish that an unsuitable sand grade or another installation problem is absent.
Open a Filter Only After Safe Isolation
Never loosen a clamp or open a pressurized filter. Pentair warns that trapped compressed air can separate components and cause severe injury. Its instructions require stopping the pump, preventing automatic restart, releasing system pressure, and confirming zero pressure before service. A damaged pressure vessel or uncertain clamp assembly is a reason for professional service, not an improvised patch. Do not replace an O-ring with a merely similar size or apply an arbitrary sealant. Confirm the listed part and reassembly instructions before buying, so the repair restores the intended assembly.
